Mentorship / Support

CCF Victoria recognises the need for civil industry specific, advice and guidance, to be provided to people wishing to enter the sector. The focus is on providing information and support about developing a career in the civil industry. This is balanced with providing the participant with advice, to set them up for success and secure a job in the civil construction industry.

A unique component of the Civil Skills Cadetship Program is the integration of experienced, Civil Construction Industry, employers and/or employees, as Industry Mentors.

The approach taken to integrate mentor support, begins with a call for Expressions of Interest from CCF Members. Members who have expressed interest are invited to complete a structured, one day, Civil Skills Cadetship – Mentor Training Program.

The Mentor Training Program raises the awareness of each civil industry mentor; the way they see themselves, the identification of their specific talents and experiences. Key to this program is providing the Industry Mentors with the opportunity to practice various communication techniques, including questioning and providing feedback.
